Attached to the house is a beautiful garden with a very spacious terrace where you can fully enjoy the outdoors. From here you have a magnificent view over the surrounding fields. In the summer cows graze here, creating an idyllic and rural scene. The area is particularly quiet, ideal for those who love silence and nature.  

Next to the house is a small orchard, a vegetable garden and a chicken coop. Here you will enjoy seasonal fruits and fresh vegetables from your own garden. And in the morning? Then just get a fresh egg from the chickens. Pure and fresher is almost impossible - all you have to do is pick it or grab it....

 An outdoor pool will be available starting in May 2026. Its construction is scheduled for spring 2026. The pool will be shared only with the owners, who of course fully respect your privacy. As soon as pictures are available, we will post them online.

Our family with three children (ages 13, 10 and 6) had a fantastic time at Potaerde Farm. The house is very spacious and extremely nicely furnished. We have stayed in many vacation homes, but this was by far the best equipped and most personalized stay we have ever had. We especially appreciated the large kitchen-living room - the stove is truly a dream. The living room is wonderfully cozy and we thoroughly enjoyed the sun on the beautiful terrace. The children loved the calves, rabbits and cats, as well as the pony. The many vehicles on the farm also provided hours of fun. An absolute highlight were the fresh milk and eggs from the adjacent barn. Jos, Kathleen and their children are wonderful hosts. This stay is highly recommended, especially for families. We had a very pleasant time exploring Brussels by train. Merchten is nearby and very charming, and Ghent, of course, is also perfect for a day trip.

We had an incredibly nice stay last week together with grandparents and our four children in the tastefully renovated house of Jos and Kathleen. The house is located in a beautiful setting and is equipped with every comfort. Kathleen gave us a tour with great enthusiasm and told us fascinatingly about the dairy farm. During our stay we were even allowed to see several calves being born very closely - impressive! The children were not bored for a moment. With go-karts, badminton, the table tennis table and many other toys, both indoors and outdoors, there was always something to do. They were allowed to collect fresh eggs from the chickens every day and enjoyed petting the bunnies and calves. Despite their busy work, Jos and Kathleen always made time to answer questions or explain something extra. Their warm, friendly and hospitable approach made us feel right at home. Highly recommended for families with children - we will definitely come back here again!

House Potaerde is in a very rural location. About 100 meters from the house flows the Mill Creek. You can make beautiful hiking and biking trips.

House Potaerde is located 10 km from the outskirts of Brussels - close to Palace 12, Brussels Expo, the Heysel, the Atomium, and the UZ. All this is about a 20-minute drive away.
If you really want to get to the center of Brussels, the distance is about 20 km. A pleasant alternative is to take the train from the neighboring village of Mollem. That way you avoid parking stress and don't have to leave your car in the center.

There is a crib, a portable crib, high chairs and additional toys and children's books in the closets.
On the farm they can meet the animals: cows and calves, a pony, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens,.... There are many children's toys, go-carts, a play tower, sandbox and a large play barn.

No, unfortunately not.
For the sake of biosecurity on our farm and to protect our cows, we unfortunately cannot accept dogs and other animals.
  • Drugs are strictly prohibited in House Potaerde.
  • House Potaerde is not the place for parties or heavy drinking.
  • Bachelorette parties for boys/men are not allowed.
  • Smoking is not allowed inside and on the farm. Only on the terrace of the house.
  • Bringing your own music systems is not necessary. House Potaerde has a music box available via bluetooth.
  • Confetti and fireworks are not allowed on the property and in the house.
  • Fire making is only allowed in the plancha.
  • Pay close attention to children in the garden and on the farm. They may play or go to the animals, but always accompanied by an adult.
  • Bringing torches or electric cooking fires is not allowed.

There is a toddler bed upstairs; a baby bed (travel cot) can be set up. High chairs are available upon request.

Smoking inside the house and on the farm is not allowed. Only on the terrace of the house.

There is a beautiful, quality kitchen in the house. Everything needed for cozy cooking is there. There is a large Falcon fire with 6 hobs and 3 ovens. There is a microwave, toaster, coffee makers (filters & tabs), kettle, kitchen robot (kitchenaide), dishwasher (Miele), ... A spacious refrigerator with small freezer compartment. There is enough crockery, cutlery, glasses and cups for the number of guests. Various cooking utensils, such as pots, pans, (bread) knives, colander, kitchen scissors, hand mixer, can opener, corkscrew, ... are standard present. There are plenty of cleaning products and tea towels. Furthermore, there is a wide choice of spices, oil, salt & pepper.
